Our Mission

At the Puyallup Food Bank, we are passionate about meeting the urgent needs of our neighbors and partnering to assist them, believing food is the first step on their journey to a more hopeful future. Our promise to every individual and family we are privileged to serve is to treat you with respect and dignity, to show you love, and be a source of help and hope.

Our promise to every volunteer, financial partner and community partner is to steward your time and resources wisely and to provide you a place where you can serve, love and give to your neighbor as part of a community of hope.

Our Operations

We are volunteer-led and volunteer-run, with dedicated staff who support our growing operations. We use warehousing and logistics expertise to capture high quality and abundant surplus food for our neighbors, which would otherwise go to waste.

Our care team helps our neighbors connect with local resources and relationships they desperately need. We consider ourselves a center of hospitality. The highest level of hospitality requires the greatest amount of preparation. We train, plan, prepare, and when necessary, adapt to make each person feel the warmth and kindness bestowed upon all of God’s children.

We strive to inspire, model and facilitate better collaboration for the holistic well-being of our city. We practice reciprocity and promote reconciliation with neighbors, others, God, and the environment.

Our History

At the Puyallup Food Bank we start with food, but we do not stop there. For over 50 years, we have sought to provide holistic help to our neighbors in need. Rooted in the Christian ethos of loving others as oneself, we have grown from a small church food pantry to one of the largest and most professionally run food banks in Pierce County.
